Kano State House of Assembly has released the official list of lawmakers who have defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), following the resignation of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the party.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the House confirmed that 22 members of the hallowed chamber were directly involved in the defection, while reaffirming their commitment to the administration of Governor Yusuf.
The statement noted that the lawmakers’ decision came in the wake of the governor’s exit from the NNPP, a development that has continued to reshape the political landscape in the state.
Those listed as defecting members include the leadership of the Assembly, with the Speaker and his deputy among those named.

According to the statement, the 22 lawmakers reiterated their resolve to continue supporting the policies and programmes of the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration, despite the political realignments.
