Borno State Police Command has confirmed in a preliminary report that four persons have lost their lives in an Improvised Explosive Device, IED incident where ten others got injured.
A statement by the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the incident occurred Wednesday, 25th June, at about 12.30pm.
The statement said an Isuzu pickup vehicle with registration number DAM 156 XA (Borno), conveying passengers from Damboa to Maiduguri, on reaching Komala Village, in Konduga Local Government Area, struck an Improvised Explosive Device, (IED), suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
As a result of the explosion, four persons lost their lives, while ten others sustained injuries.
ASP Daso said the corpses of the deceased and the injured victims have been evacuated to the States Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri.
Normalcy is said to have been restored, while a joint security team has been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks.
