A cargo airplane operated by Allied Air skidded off the runway at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on December 11, 2024.
The incident occurred at 10:05 am, involving an aircraft with registration number 5N-JRT.
A statement issued by the NBIS Director, Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli, said all five crew members on board were safely evacuated and taken to the FAAN clinic for medical checks.
According to her, no injuries were reported.
She said the airport’s emergency response team and accident investigators are currently on the scene.
“Efforts are underway to clear the runway, which is expected to reopen for operations soon. The Airport Emergency response team is on the scene along with accident investigators.
“The runway is being cleared and is expected to reopen for operations as soon as possible.
“We would like to thank the aviation community and the general public for their understanding and patience.
“We also request that all speculation be put on hold until the preliminary report is released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
