A tragic attack in Zurak village, Bashar District, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State has left over 40 people dead, with multiple homes set ablaze by suspected bandits.
Residents of the community recounted the terrifying incident that took place on Monday evening around 7 pm. when people in the community were going about their normal activities but they could not report the incident due to the poor communication network in the area.
According to Sahpi’i Sambo, a youth leader in the area, armed bandits arrived on motorcycles, two riders per bike, and began shooting indiscriminately at everyone.
He said ” More than 40 people were killed while many others were injured. Residents of the village have fled to neighbouring communities for safety . As of yesterday, security personnel have not yet arrived at the community. It was deadly attack “.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
