Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has assured the people of Akure of projects that will make the area more beautiful.

The governor stated this on Friday, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign tour to traditional rulers and communities in Akure South Local Government Area.

Aiyedatiwa is the candidate of APC in the Nov. 16 governorship election in the state.

Addressing the traditional rulers in the local government, Aiyedatiwa promised that he would initiate more infrastructure projects, especially roads construction, across the kingdom, if re-elected.

The governor said that Akure had been a peaceful city and his government was ready to ensure that it remained so.

“Akure remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. If any development wants to happen in the state for good, it must start from Akure.

“We have been doing what you ask for, we will continue to do so,” he said.

The governor said that his administration would restructure the state budget to suit his plans for the development of the state.

Aiyedatiwa urged the people to troop out to vote for him, come Nov. 16.

“I am so happy with what I see here. What Obas prophesied last time is the same voice they pronounced today.

“I am not someone who has not been in a position before. I am not here to promise. You have seen me and know what I am up to.

“Since I was a deputy governor, I have been handling issues relating to Obas.

“The voice of kings is just like God’s voice. That is why I could get the ticket of the party. We have seen a sitting governor lose the primary election,” he said.

The Deji of Akure kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, said Aiyedatiwa was a man who had pedigree and respect for the traditional rulers and institutions in the state.

Aladetoyinbo, who is also the chairman of the council of Obas in the state, said he had always displayed the spirit of humility and had been supporting the cause of Akure kingdom and its people for development.

He urged the governor to ensure the roads leading to the market within the state capital were constructed to ease trade in the city.

“The governor is performing well, and he actually needs to be supported for his ambition.

“Here in Akure, we have been enjoying his support in areas of infrastructure,” he said.

He urged the people to eschew violence and ensure they troop out on the election day to exercise their franchise without fear.(NAN)
