Police arrest 4 suspects supplying military camouflages to bandits in Katsina

Kastina State Police Command has arrested four suspects, who specialised in supplying military and police uniforms to bandits and other terrorist groups in the state.

The Command’s spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Katsina, said that at the first instance, the police were able to apprehend one of the suspects on Nov. 19, at about 1p.m., in Danmusa LGA, during a routine patrol along Yantumaki-Kankara highway.

According to him, the suspect was in possession of two pairs of military uniform neatly concealed in a black polythene bag.

He said: “In the course of the investigation, three more suspects were also apprehended in connection with the offence.

“They include, a 29-year-old, Lawal Ahmad, Isma’il Dalhatu, 24, all of Basawa quarters, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State; and Shafi’u Adamu, 28 of Danjaba village, Soba LGA, also in Kaduna State.

“14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform were recovered from the suspects, which were believed to be intended for delivery to the armed bandits for their criminal operations in Katsina State”.

He revealed that the suspects confessed to committing the offence during investigation.

The police spokesman that they would soon be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

Aliyu quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication to duty, which led to the successful arrest of all the suspects.

The PPRO said that the commissioner of police urged the public to continue to provide useful information that would assist in the fight against banditry and other acts of terrorism in the state.
