African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the disturbing videos emerging from Ozoro in Delta State, describing the incident as horrifying and unacceptable in any civil society.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party expressed outrage over the reported sexual harassment and assault of women in the community, stressing that such acts must not go unpunished.
“The videos circulating from Ozoro are horrifying. It is even more disturbing given that this occurred in a community with a university and several schools, where young women and girls should feel safe,” Abdullahi said.
The party maintained that there must be zero tolerance for impunity, insisting that security agencies act decisively to bring all those involved to justice.
“The ADC insists on zero impunity,” the statement added. “We call on the police to be thorough and make an example of this case. Every single man that participated in the sexual harassment and assault of the women of Ozoro must be identified and prosecuted.”
The ADC also criticised what it described as a lack of direct response from the Delta State Government, noting that leadership requires visible and timely action in moments of crisis.
“It is unacceptable that days later, the Governor of Delta State has not spoken directly, choosing instead to speak through aides. Silence at a time like this is a failure of moral leadership,” Abdullahi stated.
The party further described the incident as a stain on the nation’s conscience, warning that such acts erode public trust and safety if left unchecked.
“This is reprehensible, and it has no place in Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
