Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents of the state to put the governorship election behind them and embrace peace, unity and reconciliation as his administration begins another term in office.

In a message released on Friday following his re-election, Adeleke expressed appreciation to the people of Osun for renewing his mandate, describing their support as a demonstration of confidence in his administration’s leadership.

Addressing residents across the state, the governor thanked various groups, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, pensioners, youths, women, artisans, traders and farmers, for standing by his government during the election.

“My dear people of Osun State, I am deeply humbled and grateful for the confidence you have reposed in me by re-electing me as your Governor. To our traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, civil servants, pensioners, youths, women, artisans, traders, farmers, and every citizen who came out to vote and support our administration; thank you for believing in us and choosing continuity,” Adeleke said.

The governor described the outcome of the election as a collective victory for the people of the state, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service.

“This victory belongs to all of us, and I accept this renewed mandate with humility and a deep sense of responsibility,” he stated.

Adeleke also used the opportunity to remember those who lost their lives in incidents of electoral violence before the poll, extending condolences to the bereaved families.

“As we celebrate, we also remember the victims of electoral violence before the election. My heartfelt condolences go to their families and loved ones. May Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest and comfort those they left behind,” he said.

The governor urged residents, irrespective of political affiliation, to work together in the interest of the state, stressing the need to move beyond the divisions created during the electioneering period.

“Together, let us heal, unite and continue building a greater Osun,” Adeleke added.

The governor’s appeal comes after the conclusion of the Osun governorship election, as political stakeholders and residents begin to look ahead to governance and post-election reconciliation in the state.
