Former Nigerian International, Henry Nwosu, said the Super Eagles are getting stronger and more coordinated in their play.
He applauded them over thier 2-0 win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the knockout stage of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 in Cote D’Ivoire.
Nwosu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos, that their performance at the knockout stage was different from the group stage.
“Today, I have seen a more coordinated team, a more improved team. We are getting stronger and more determined away from some lackluster performances in the group stage.
Nwosu praised the bravery of the Super Eagles and their determination to see off the arch rival, Cameroon in the knockout stage of the tournament.
“I am so happy for the Super Eagles, we never expected such a wonderful style of play from the squad.
I was also nervous when our first choice goalkeeper was stretched off to be replaced by Uzoho.
“I was nervous because I know how dangerous the Cameroonians can be, but thank God our defenders were able to prevent outside shots which often troubles our goalkeeper.
“We in the business of football have been complaining about tactics and formation, but judging from the way we played today, if we continue, we are good for the final,”’ he said.
Nwosu advised the team to be more decisive and focused as more stronger opponents lies ahead.
“We should be more focused because all eyes will be on us. We should not have much trouble playing Angola, but caution should be the watchword.
“We still have other hurdles ahead maybe when we meet a team like Senegal, so we need to put our heads up,” he advised. (NAN)
