Akpabio’s wife files multi-million naira lawsuit against Natasha

Mrs. Akpabio and Senator Natasha

Ekaette Akpabio, the wife of Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has filed multiple lawsuits against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan at the Federal High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The lawsuits allege a breach of her fundamental rights and defamation stemming from statements made by Akpoti-Uduaghan on Arise News.

Akpabio seeks a perpetual injunction restraining Akpoti-Uduaghan from making further scandalous statements, as well as an award of N250 billion as punitive damages for infringement against her fundamental human rights.

Additionally, she is asking the court to slam a separate N1 billion in damages on Akpoti-Uduaghan for the ruinous effect of her defamatory statements ¹.

In a separate suit, Akpabio seeks a declaration that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claim on Arise News that her husband made sexual advances at her has damaged her reputation and indeed her entire family.

She also seeks a court order mandating Akpoti-Uduaghan to issue a formal written retraction of her defamatory statements and tender an unconditional apology to her and her family in two national newspapers, including ThisDay Newspapers.
