Anambra State Governorship aspirant on the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Valentine Ozigbo,, has said he would transform the state in four years if elected governor in 2025.
Ozigbo said this at an interactive session with political office holders elected on the platform of the LP and stakeholders from Anambra Central in Awka.
He said he was a strong advocate and respecter of zoning and would do one term of four years during which he would restore the glory of the State by running a government that would the best in its history.
He said he would take Anambra to an enviable height and gladly hand over to another competent candidate from Anambra Central after his reign, as four years would be enough for any serious government to impact lives positively.
Ozigbo, who cited Gov Alex Otti od Abia as an example, said he would replicate the effect in Anambra while calling on the people to vote for the change they desire in 2025.
According to him, “Anambra under me as governor will be repositioned and transformed to an enviable height within four years because I have competence, leadership quality, and proven records of excellence.
“As an advocate of zoning, I will honour the principles of zoning, I will transform Anambra within four years, and hand it over to any other competent person from Anambra Central.
“I am a man of integrity,” he said.
In their various responses, the stakeholders expressed confidence in Ozigbo’s ability to redefine governance in Anambra.
Prof Chinyere Okunna, a former Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Anambra, described Ozigbo as a man of impeccable character who was best suited for the job.
Okunna, who is Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul’s University, Awka, said Ozigbo’s humane quality, civility and calmness were his greatest strengths.
According to her, Anambra needs someone who is emotionally intelligent and can connect with people, just like Mr Peter Obi, and this is what stands Val apart.
Chief George Ozodinobi, member representing Anaocha/Dunukofia/Njikoka in the National Assembly, said he would mobilise his constituents to work towards the success of Ozigbo at the primary and main election.
Ozodinobi, who is the Minority Whip of the 8th Assembly, promised to work with the national stakeholders of LP to ensure harmony which was crucial to the victory of the party in the election.
“I will lead the battle in my constituency,” he said.
Also speaking, Prof. Lillian Orogbu, Member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, also expressed confidence in Ozigbo’s quest for better Anambra and emphasised the need for Labour Party to come together and support him.
Other speakers were Mr Hon. Uchenna-Harris Okonkwo, Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, and other members of the State House of Assembly, among others.(NAN)
