APC primary: Suswam wins Benue North East senatorial ticket

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has announced the results of the senatorial primary elections in the state with Senator Gabriel Suswam making the list of senatorial candidates in the state.

The APC National Assembly primary elections Returning Officer in the state, Ssidu Mahatu while announcing the results at the APC Secretariat in Makurrdi, declared Senator Suswam who scored 131,083 votes as winner, while the incumbent, Senator Emmanuel Udende scored 1,364 even as the closest aspirant, Dauglas Terkula Pepe got 7304 votes.

The Returning Officer said Suswam got the highest votes cast and has emerged as the candidate of the party in Benue North East senatorial district.

He also declared the Assistant Controller General of Customs, Rtd, Terseer Aber as the winner of the primary elections having pulled 93,412 votes in Benue North West senatorial district.

According to him, Mr. Dave Awuna who was the closest rival scored 21,731 votes, while other aspirants got negligible votes at the primary elections in the district.

In the Benue South Senatorial district, Mahuta declared the former House of Representatives member, Francis Agbo as the winner of the senatorial ticket with 58,760 votes to beat other aspirants as Joseph Ojogbo who came close got 6,782 votes, while other aspirants got insignificant votes.

The Returning Officer appreciated the APC members for effective participation in the exercise and expressed the belief that the candidates would win their seats in the forthcoming elections.

The Returning Officer acknowledged that the candidates who contested and lost remained strong party members. He urged all aggrieved aspirants to submit their complaints to the designated committee within 24 hours.

The APC Chairman in the state, Benjamin Omale lauded the party leadership for ensuring the conduct of the primary elections which he described as being free, fare and credible and appealed to those that lost to continue to work for the success of the party.

Mr. Terseer Aber who got the ticket of the APC for Benue North West senatorial district, while answering questions from newsmen, aaid he had gone round the district and seen the problems of his people and he would be better positioned to address them if elected to represent them at the National Assembly.
