The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved a major reshuffle of senior officers, with changes cutting across operational commands, training institutions and key appointments at the Army Headquarters.
The posting, announced on Saturday, is aimed at strengthening the Nigerian Army’s leadership and improving its operations across the country.
Under the new appointments, Major General WM Dangana becomes the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, replacing Major General EF Oyinlola.
Major General EI Okoro has been appointed GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE, taking over from Major General EE Emeka.
Major General JR Lar has been named Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola takes over as Acting Military Secretary (Army). Brigadier General I Waziri will continue as Chief of Staff to the COAS.
The reshuffle also saw Brigadier General IB Buhari posted as Commander, Headquarters 63 Brigade, while Brigadier General K Rabiu assumes command of Headquarters 31 Artillery Brigade.
Major General SA Emmanuel has been appointed Commander of the Nigerian Army Space Command, while Major General O Adegbe takes over as Director of Intelligence and Security at the Defence Headquarters.
In the training and education sector, Major General KE Chigbu has been appointed Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College. Major General SD Makolo becomes Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School, while Major General SO Adejimi takes charge of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport.
Major General FS Etim has been appointed Chief of Training at the Headquarters of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), while Brigadier General U Ahmad becomes Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.
The new postings also include Major General KO Ukandu as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Post Housing Development Limited (PHDL), while Major General AI Allison has been appointed Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited.
Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the affected officers to provide effective leadership, uphold professionalism and remain committed to the Army’s responsibility of defending the country’s territorial integrity and supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and security.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.
