Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has urged the Federal Government to honour former Chairman of defunct National Electoral Commission Prof. Humphrey Nwosu’s legacy in electoral reform and management.

Nwosu oversaw the historic June 12, 1993 election won by the late Chief MKO Abiola, which was later annulled by the military government.

Abubakar in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Sunday in Abuja also advocated a fitting tribute to Nwosu’s contributions.

He expressed his condolences to the family of Nwosu who passed away in the United States on Friday.

The former vice-president said that Nwosu’s passing came at a time when Nigeria continues to struggle with achieving credible elections.

He remembered Nwosu as a brilliant intellect whose innovative approaches helped navigate the numerous challenges imposed by the military regime on electoral management.

Abubakar also prayed for comfort for Nwosu’s family and for his soul to rest in peace.
