Atiku, Tambuwal, APC Chairman, Malami visit El-Rufai, offer prayers over mother’s death

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda have paid condolence visits to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El‑Rufai following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El‑Rufai.

The leaders visited El-Rufai at his Abuja residence, where they offered prayers and expressed solidarity with the grieving family over the loss described as deeply painful and irreplaceable.

Atiku Leads Delegation, Offers Prayers

Atiku Abubakar, who led a delegation to the residence, described the loss as a difficult moment and said he shared in the grief of the former Kaduna governor.

“This evening, I led a delegation on a condolence visit to the family of Mallam @elrufai at his Abuja residence, standing in solidarity with them during this deeply difficult time following the irreplaceable loss of a beloved mother,” Atiku said.

He added, “I share with Mallam the deep pain of this loss, and we prayed for the repose of the soul of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.”

Atiku further noted that despite the painful loss, El-Rufai remained steadfast in faith.

“I was pleased to observe that Mallam remains strong in faith, his spirit unbroken, and he is not down cast. I encouraged him to be strengthened in faith, for this too shall pass.”

He concluded with prayers for the deceased, saying: “May the soul of Mama be granted a place in paradise.”

Tambuwal Expresses Sympathy

Similarly, Aminu Tambuwal visited El-Rufai and conveyed his condolences to the family, describing the loss of a mother as profoundly personal.

“Today, my team and I paid a condolence visit to former Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency Mallam @elrufai, to commiserate with him and his family over the passing of his beloved mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai,” Tambuwal said.

He added, “We expressed our deep sympathy and shared in their grief at this difficult time. The loss of a mother is profoundly personal and irreplaceable, and we stand in solidarity with the family in mourning her passing.”

Tambuwal also offered prayers for the deceased and the family.

“We prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgives her shortcomings, grants her Aljannatul Firdaus, and blesses the family with the strength and patience to bear this great loss.”

He further noted, “May her life and legacy continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.”

APC National Chairman Visits

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, also visited El-Rufai at his Abuja residence to commiserate with him over the loss.

The visit, according to party sources, was aimed at offering condolences following the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who died on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, after a period of illness.

Malami Joins Condolence Visits

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, also visited the former Kaduna governor, expressing sympathy and praying for strength for the bereaved family during the difficult period.

The series of visits by political leaders across party lines underscores the widespread sympathy and respect for the former Kaduna State governor following the death of his mother.

Family members, political associates, and supporters have continued to throng El-Rufai’s Abuja residence to offer condolences and prayers.
