Nigerian Army has firmly dismissed a recruitment notice making the rounds on social media and online platforms, describing it as false, misleading and entirely unauthorized.
A disclaimer issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Army spokesperson, Colonel Anele Appolonia, said the viral advertisement claiming that the “Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 29 Application Form 2026” is available did not originate from any recognized military channel.
According to the statement, the Nigerian Army has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for either the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or the Short Service Commission (SSC).
“The Nigerian Army has not commenced any recruitment or commissioning exercise for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) or Short Service Commission (SSC) at this time,” the statement clarified, urging Nigerians to completely disregard the circulating advert.
The Army further reassured the public that whenever recruitment exercises are officially approved, proper announcements will be made through verified platforms.
“Whenever recruitment exercises are approved to commence, the public will be duly informed through the official platforms, including the Nigerian Army website, official social media accounts and publications in national dailies, along with other verified communication channels,” the statement said.
Warning against the growing activities of fraudsters, the Army stressed that it does not charge any fee for recruitment into its ranks and advised citizens to remain vigilant.
Members of the public were also encouraged to report anyone involved in spreading fake recruitment notices or engaging in related fraudulent activities to the nearest security agency for immediate action.
