Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a significant increase in fees for the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective September 1, 2025.
The Service Public Relations Officer at NIS Headquarters in Abuja, ACI AS Akinlabi, announced this in a statement issued on Thursday.
ACI Akinlabi said the new fee structure, aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the passport, sets the cost of a 32-page passport with 5-year validity at N100,000, up from N35,000, and a 64-page passport with 10-year validity at N200,000, previously N70,000.
According to him, the fee hike applies only to passport applications made within Nigeria, while fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page passport and $230 for the 64-page version.
He said the adjustment reflects the need to balance high-quality service delivery with accessibility for all Nigerians.
“We are committed to ensuring the Nigerian passport meets global standards while remaining within reach for citizens”.
“This review allows us to enhance our processes and maintain the integrity of our passport services”, said ACI Akinlabi.
The NIS emphasized its ongoing efforts to streamline passport services and urged Nigerians to plan applications early to avoid delays. For more information, visit the Nigeria Immigration Service website.
