BREAKING: Plateau Governor Mutfwang Resigns from PDP

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he has decided to seek “an alternative political platform.”

The governor announced his resignation in a letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

Mutfwang thanked the party for giving him the opportunity to participate in the democratic process and acknowledged the support of party leaders and members during his time in the PDP.

Explaining his decision, the governor said he was compelled by “the realities of the moment” to seek a new political platform.

The letter read: “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect

“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me with the political platform to participate in the democratic process. I acknowledge the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels during my time in the party,”

“Given the realities of the moment, and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and effective service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform

The resignation letter was acknowledged on December 30, 2025, by the ward chairman, Mr. Dasjak Sunday Longyot.

Mutfwang was elected governor of Plateau State on the platform of the PDP in the 2023 general election.
