BREAKING: Sultan declares Sunday as Eid-el-Fitr

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Sunday, 30th March 2025 as the day to mark the Eid-el-Fitr, hence an end of Ramadan fast.

Sultan who noted that the decision was sequel to the new moon being sighted across the country, as confirmed by 7 Emirates including those of the Emirs of Daura, Borno, Argungu and Zazzau added that, all Muslim ummah should however continue to pray for peace, unity and progress of the country

His words in brief: ” In accordance with Islamic law, we have the honour and pleasure to announce that today, Saturday the 30th day of Ramadan,1446 AH, which is equivalent to March 30th, 2025 has marked the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the new month of Shawwal.

Reliable reports of moon sighting were received from Muslim leaders and religious organisations across the country, which were duly verified and authenticated.

”Consequent upon this, tomorrow, Sunday the 30th day of March, 2025 becomes the first day of Shawwal,1446 AH and is therefore declared the Sallah day for 2025 Eid-el-Fitr.”

While admonishing Nigerians to always embrace one another irrespective of religion, culture, ethnicity and political differences, Sultan solicited prayers for the nation’s leaders.

The respected religious leader after praying for the nation’s security challenges further prayed to Almighty Allah to reward all righteous obligations made in the month of Ramadan.

He also appealed to leaders across all levels to lead with the fear of Allah, do justice to all and ensure good governance.
