Mrs Didi Walson-Jack says, late President Muhammadu Buhar promoted efficiency, accountability and digitised government operations, as part of his legacies in the civil service.
Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF) who stated this in a condolence message on the passing of Buhari, added that the legacies had continue to shape ongoing reforms in the service
A text of the message was made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja by Mrs Eno Olotu, Director, Information and Public Relations, office of HCSF.
“Buhari’s tenure was marked by key reforms in the public sector, particularly through the implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) 2017–2020, and its successor, the FCSSIP 2021–2025.
“The initiatives under Buhari’s administration strengthened transparency, anti-corruption efforts, social investment programmes and infrastructure renewal.
“The Nigerian Public Service solemnly reflects on the loss of a leader whose values and principles redefined governance.
“His belief in merit, order, and the rule of law laid a foundation for current and future reforms in the service ,” she said.
Walson-Jack described the former president as a statesman who led with discipline, integrity and an unwavering commitment to national service.
She prayed for peaceful repose of his soul, strength and comfort for his family, the Government of Katsina State, and the entire nation during the period of mourning
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s civilian President from 2015 to 2023 and as Military Head of State from 1984 to 1985, died on Sunday, in the United Kingdom.
His death was announced by his family in a statement issued by his former spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu.
President Bola Tinubu had announced a national mourning with flags lowered half‑mast and the Vice‑President, Kashim Shettima dispatched to United Kingdom to convey Buhari’s body home.
