CAF Postpones Women’s AFCON 2026 Just 12 Days Before Kick Off

The Confederation of African Football has postponed the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations just 12 days before it was scheduled to kick off in Morocco.

The tournament was originally fixed for March 17 to April 3 but will now hold from July 25 to August 16. Morocco remains the host nation despite the change in dates.

CAF made the announcement after consultations with stakeholders and partners, saying the adjustment was necessary to allow better preparation and smoother organisation.

The championship will feature 16 national teams and also serves as part of the qualification pathway for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.
