Columbia 2024: NFF president urges Falconets to be focused in training

The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has urged the under 20 Female National Football team, the Falconets to remain focused in training ahead of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals in Colombia.

Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications at NFF stated this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Gusau charged the girls to be attentive to instructions of their coaches, to work hard and embrace discipline to achieve success at the championship .

He said hard work, discipline and dedication can see the Falconets mount the winners’ podium in this tournament.

“I am aware of our country’s pedigree in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

” Your predecessors have won the silver medal on two occasions and reached the semi finals once. Now is the time for the ultimate.

“I believe that with discipline, hard work, dedication, focus and prayers for mother luck in your matches, you can emerge triumphant.

“These are the qualities that are necessary for success. The federation will continue to provide the support and encouragement that you need to excel,” Gusau said .

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2024 finals in Colombia will be the first to welcome 24 teams, with Nigeria, Morocco, Cameroon and Ghana representing Africa.

The Falconets are drawn to play three-time champions, Germany, Venezuela and Korea Republic in group D.

The championship will commence on Aug.31 to Sept. 22 in Columbia.
