Ahead of the 21 September governorship election in Edo, the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
Dr Samson Isibor, CRPP State Chairman, made the announcement on Friday at a meeting attended by state and local government executives in Benin.
Isibor noted that Edo residents could no longer afford basic necessities due to the high cost of living, exacerbated by harsh economic policies.
He expressed confidence in Ighodalo’s ability to fulfill his campaign promises and address the state’s challenges, including insecurity, high fuel costs, and electricity shortages.
The CRPP chairman urged supporters to campaign vigorously for Ighodalo and ensure their votes count.
He appealed to contestants to focus on issue-based campaigns, avoiding calumny and mudslinging.
Isibor also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and provide a level playing field for all parties.
He charged security agencies to discharge their duties professionally, without taking sides.
