The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has directed the immediate deployment of elements of its regional Standby Force to the Republic of Benin.
The decision, announced today, aims to bolster security in the country amid growing concerns over terrorist threats and cross-border instability in the Sahel region.
No further details on the size or duration of the deployment were disclosed in the official communiqué.
The move underscores ECOWAS’ continued efforts to support member states facing security challenges.
