Supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo were in high spirits on Saturday at the grand finale campaign rally of the party in the state.
The rally took place at the Garrick Memorial Grammar School grounds in Benin, the state capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that party members and support groups were optimistic about the PDP’s chances of winning the governorship election, scheduled for September 21.
NAN also reports that security personnel from various agencies were deployed to provide security.
The campaign rally caused gridlocks on major roads in the Benin metropolis.
The venue was a spectacle, with supporters wearing customised party shirts, hats, and wrappers.
Ahead of the ceremony’s official start, the disc jockey played melodious party songs, delighting the crowd.
Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Chairman of the National Campaign Council for the Edo 2024 Governorship Election, led other council members to the event.
The campaign council also comprised two Co-Deputy Chairmen: Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta and Gov. Kefas Agbu of Taraba.NAN)
