Edo police arrest 3 suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Victims Identify Two Suspects

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, following intelligence gathered after the abduction of a female victim earlier this month.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikioedem, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended on May 15, 2026, after police received credible intelligence that one of the suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of one Ibrahim Jemila had been sighted at Jattu Market.

The statement explained that the Divisional Police Officer of Jattu Division immediately mobilized operatives in collaboration with members of the Edo State Security Corps to the area, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Nura Dahiru, 22; Ibrahim Yakubu, 25; and Abubakar Inusa, 23.

Police disclosed that during investigation, two of the suspects — Nura Dahiru and Ibrahim Yakubu — were positively identified by the victim, Jemila, and another individual as members of the gang responsible for their abduction.

“The Edo State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc has recorded another breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the State,” the statement read.

It added that, “In the course of investigation, two of the suspects, Nura Dahiru and Ibrahim Yakubu, have been positively identified by Jemila and one other as members of the kidnapping gang responsible for their abduction.”

The Command reassured residents of its determination to sustain the crackdown on criminal elements across the state.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, reassures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the State of criminal elements and urges members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to the Police,” the statement added.

The Command also urged residents to make use of its emergency and complaints response lines to assist security agencies with credible information.
