The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The anti-corruption agency made the announcement in a wanted notice posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, calling on Nigerians to assist with credible information that could lead to his arrest.
In the notice, the Commission stated: “The public is hereby notified that ABDULRASHEED ABDULLAHI MAINA, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties.”
The EFCC identified Maina as a 61-year-old indigene of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Commission appealed to members of the public to report any information about his whereabouts to the nearest EFCC office, police station or other security agencies.
It added: “Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies.”
The wanted notice was signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.
Maina is a familiar figure in Nigeria’s anti-corruption campaign, having previously faced investigations and prosecution over alleged pension fraud. While the latest EFCC notice relates specifically to an alleged case of receiving stolen property, the Commission has not provided further details of the allegation.
The EFCC has continued to encourage public participation in the fight against economic and financial crimes, stressing that timely information from citizens plays a vital role in tracking wanted suspects, recovering public assets and strengthening the country’s justice system.
