Lagos State Police Command has uncovered and sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly producing adulterated alcoholic drinks in Badagry, leading to the arrest of a 48-year-old man.
The operation followed credible intelligence provided by members of the public as part of the Command’s efforts to tackle criminal activities and protect residents from harmful products.
Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the suspect, identified as Anaebo Emeka Hilary, was arrested at Yafin in Badagry, where the suspected factory was located.
According to the statement, police operatives recovered a large quantity of suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, different wine labels and production utensils believed to have been used in manufacturing and packaging the products.
The factory was immediately sealed, while the suspect was taken into police custody for further investigation.
The statement said the recovered exhibits had also been moved to the police station as investigators continue to unravel the operation and determine the source and distribution of the suspected fake drinks.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised their swift response to intelligence from the public.
He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks across Lagos State.
The Commissioner also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful and timely information that could help prevent crime and safeguard lives and property.
