The Federal Government has begun evacuating Nigerians living in Iran as tensions continue to escalate in parts of the Middle East.
Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said officials are currently escorting willing Nigerians by land across the Iranian border into Armenia to ensure their safety.
She explained that the evacuation is being carried out by road because airspace in the region remains unsafe for flights.
Dabiri-Erewa added that arrangements have been made for repatriation flights once the security situation improves and air travel becomes possible.
She assured Nigerians in the Middle East that the government’s evacuation team remains on standby to facilitate their return home when conditions permit.
