President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe (SAN), has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Folake Solanke (SAN, CON), as she marks her 94th birthday, describing her as a trailblazer whose legacy continues to inspire generations of legal professionals.
In a goodwill message on Sunday, the NBA President celebrated the distinguished legal icon for her groundbreaking achievements and enduring contributions to Nigeria’s legal profession.
Osigwe noted that Solanke’s elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria was not only a personal achievement but also a historic milestone that paved the way for women in the legal profession.
“Today, we celebrate an icon of the legal profession, a trailblazer, and a woman whose life has redefined excellence at the Bar, Chief (Mrs.) Folake Solanke, SAN, CON, the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, as she marks her remarkable 94th birthday,” Osigwe said.
Highlighting her historic accomplishment, the NBA President stated that her elevation to the Inner Bar broke barriers and created opportunities for women to pursue excellence in the legal field.
“Your elevation to the Inner Bar was not merely a personal milestone; it was a historic breakthrough that opened doors, shattered barriers, and inspired generations of women in the legal profession to aspire boldly and achieve exceptionally. Through your courage, brilliance, and unwavering commitment to justice, you etched your name permanently in the annals of Nigeria’s legal history,” he added.
Osigwe further described Solanke’s life at 94 as a symbol of resilience, excellence, and dedication to justice, noting that her impact continues to shape the legal profession in Nigeria.
“At 94, your life stands as a testament to resilience, purpose, and enduring excellence. Your contributions to the legal profession and your pioneering role continue to illuminate the path for countless lawyers, particularly women, who draw inspiration from your courage and accomplishments,” he said.
He also prayed for continued good health and longevity for the legal luminary, while celebrating her enduring influence.
“As you mark this extraordinary milestone, we celebrate a life of impact, a legacy of leadership, and a journey defined by grace and distinction. May your years continue to be blessed with good health, peace, and the joy of witnessing the enduring influence of your remarkable legacy.”
The NBA President concluded by wishing the renowned legal practitioner a happy birthday, acknowledging her lasting contributions to the Nigerian legal profession.
