Gabriel Jesus is set to leave Arsenal for Barcelona after the two clubs agreed a deal worth €10 million, including add-ons, for the Brazilian forward.
Jesus has been cleared by Arsenal to travel to Spain for his medical on Monday as Barcelona move to complete the permanent transfer.
The 29-year-old joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and was initially a key part of Mikel Arteta’s plans. He scored 18 goals in 58 appearances during his first two seasons, but injuries have since disrupted his time at the club.
His place in the team also became harder to secure as Arsenal strengthened their attacking options, leaving Jesus with fewer opportunities and his future increasingly uncertain.
Barcelona’s move now gives him a fresh start after four seasons in north London. The Catalan club see his experience and versatility as useful additions to their attack.
For Arsenal, his departure is another sign of the changes taking place in Arteta’s squad as the club continue to reshape their forward options.
Subject to a successful medical, Jesus will complete his move to Barcelona and bring his Arsenal career to a close.
