Former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has stated that the Nigerian government possesses the identities of individuals and entities financing and sponsoring Boko Haram insurgency.
In a statement on Channel’s Politics Today, Buratai declared:
“Government Knows The Names Of Those Financing And Sponsoring Terrorist groups.”
The retired general, who led the Nigerian Army from 2015 to 2021 during the peak of intensified operations against the terrorist group, did not name any specific individuals or groups in the public remark but implied that actionable intelligence exists at the highest levels.
Buratai’s assertion comes amid renewed discussions on the persistence of insurgency in the Northeast, recent suicide bombings in Maiduguri, and ongoing questions about the sources of funding, logistics, and political protection.
The former army chief’s latest comment has reignited public debate, with many Nigerians calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of any identified sponsors.
