JUST IN: APC sweeps Lagos LG elections, wins all 20 chairmanship seats

All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the Lagos State local government elections, winning all 20 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions.

According to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) managed to secure only one councillorship seat in Ward D, Yaba.

The elections, which held on Saturday, saw over seven million registered voters exercising their franchise to elect chairmen and councillors for the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.

The APC’s landslide victory cements its dominance in Lagos, a key economic hub in Nigeria. The party’s victory is expected to further consolidate its hold on the state’s politics.

LASIEC officials worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth electoral process, despite some logistical challenges. Security agencies also played a crucial role in maintaining peace and order throughout the elections.

The APC’s win is seen as a significant boost to the party’s fortunes in the state, and a testament to its strong grassroots support.
