The suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga posted photos of the duo during the meeting.
“Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers, now on suspension from office, visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday,” Onanuga captioned the photos he posted on his X handle on Tuesday evening.
However, details of what transpired during the visit have yet to be known.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos comes months after Tinubu’s intervention in Rivers State’s protracted political crisis.
The crisis, sparked by a power struggle between Fubara and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, had divided the Rivers State House of Assembly into pro-Wike and pro-Fubara camps. On March 18th, Tinubu suspended Fubara, his deputy, and the lawmakers for six months, appointing retired naval chief Ibok-Ette Ibas as sole administrator of the state.
The move has generated significant debate, and Fubara’s visit to Tinubu raises questions about the current state of affairs and potential next steps.
