Kano State Government has strongly condemned the brutal killing of no fewer than 16 travellers in Uromi, Edo.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Waiya, in Kano on Saturday.
Waiya described the incident as a heinous act that should be met with an unwavering response from security and judicial institutions.
The victims, predominantly hunters were allegedly ambushed by a vigilante group and armed youths while travelling from Rivers to Kano to celebrate Sallah with their families.
The statement said that all individuals found complicit in the atrocity should be brought to justice, including law enforcement personnel who may have neglected their duty.
The Kano State government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to strengthen the nation’s security framework, including better equipment for the police forces and access to justice and redress.
