A devastating incident has shaken the community in Delta State, Nigeria, after a young lady, identified as Blessing Jonathan, allegedly threw her 10-month-old baby, Prevail Jonathan into a river.
The Delta State Police Command arrested Blessing for murder, following a shocking confession.
The police command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, who revealed this while parading the suspect, said Blessing claimed that she was driven to this extreme act by the constant abuse and shame from her friends and other women, who mocked her for being a single mother.
He said although this is no justification for her actions, it however highlights the importance of being mindful of the words we speak, as they can have a profound impact on others.
SP Edafe emphasized the need for caution in our words, as they can lead to depression and other severe consequences.
The police spokesman assured that the law will take its course, and Blessing will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
