Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to steer clear of the Kara Bridge/Ojodu Berger section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following multiple road crashes that occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 24, 2026.
The crashes have resulted in severe traffic congestion along the busy corridor as emergency responders continue rescue and recovery operations at the scene.
In a traffic advisory issued on Friday, the Corps urged motorists travelling from Lagos towards Ibadan to take the Ikorodu-Sagamu route to avoid the affected section of the expressway.
Similarly, road users travelling into Lagos were advised to consider alternative entry routes through the Lekki-Epe Expressway or the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway until normal traffic flow is restored.
The FRSC appealed to commuters and motorists to remain calm and cooperate with traffic management personnel deployed to the area.
According to the advisory, “The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) advises motorists to avoid the Kara Bridge/Ojodu Berger section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway following multiple road traffic crashes in the early hours of Friday, 24 July 2026, which are currently causing significant traffic disruption as rescue and recovery operations continue.”
The Corps further advised motorists to prioritise road safety by ensuring their vehicles are in good mechanical condition, particularly their braking systems, while also avoiding speeding and unnecessary night journeys.
It stated, “The Corps appeals for patience and cooperation with traffic management officials on ground, while urging all motorists to drive cautiously, ensure their vehicles are mechanically fit, especially the braking system; and avoid excessive speed and unnecessary night journeys.”
The FRSC assured the public that it is working closely with other emergency response agencies to clear the affected area and restore the free flow of traffic as quickly as possible.
“FRSC, alongside other emergency responders, is working tirelessly to clear the obstruction and restore the free flow of traffic as quickly as possible,” the statement added.
