Many dead as troops engages terrorists in gun battle in Subunu Forest

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have sustained their aggressive military offensive against terrorist groups operating within Sububu Forest, recording fresh successes in the ongoing effort to dismantle criminal strongholds across the North-West.

Soldiers from Sector 2 of the 8 Division, while advancing into identified terrorist hideouts, engaged armed elements in Indulumu and Ruduno villages, where several terrorists were decisively neutralised during intense firefights.

During the encounters, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, one magazine loaded with 28 rounds of ammunition, and a pair of woodland camouflage uniforms. Additionally, two motorcycles reportedly used by the terrorists for mobility and attacks were destroyed at the scene.

The operation further extended into a thorough exploitation of the forest terrain, leading to the discovery and destruction of multiple terrorist camps and life-support facilities. These actions significantly weakened the logistical and operational capacity of the criminal elements within the area.

In a major humanitarian breakthrough, the troops also rescued a 13-year-old kidnapped victim, Halira Ibrahim, underscoring the operation’s commitment to safeguarding innocent civilians.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA has reiterated its resolve to deny terrorists any safe haven, as efforts continue to restore lasting peace and security across the North-West region.
