The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has called on Nigerians to develop their entrepreneurial skills by taking advantage of incubation centres across the 36 states of the federation.

Onu made the call when he received the management team of A & Shine International Limited led by its CEO Mrs Bukola Adeshina.

The minister said that NBTI’s incubation centres were available for Nigerians, especially young people for them to avail themselves the opportunity to develop skills.

He said in view of the current situation, trainees of the incubation centres, to a large extent, were helping the nation to produce locally what would have been imported from outside the country.

Onu maintained that local production of food and other vital necessities of life was encouraging and would help strengthen Nigeria’s economy as well as defeat extreme poverty.

According to the minister, local production as against importing from outside gives room for job and wealth creation for younger Nigerians who are growing up.

The minister expressed appreciation and happiness for the success story of A&Shine for emerging first position in Niger state incubation centre, which it had demonstrated with what it was producing.

Accordingly, he visited the company’s facility in Abuja and was impressed with the wide range of products, equipment and the number of people it employed as well as beneficiaries through indirect employment.

Onu noted the efforts of the ministry which had always been the hope of startups via the NBTI, one of its agencies.

“Many of the incubates that started small as micro businesses have today become small and medium scale businesses all over the country,’’ he said.

The minister pledged to give adequate support to A & Shine to help strengthen its business and boost its production capacity.

Earlier, Mrs Adeshina, the CEO of A & Shine said the company was a honey packaging company which also diversified into garlic, moringa with varieties of food products.

She sought for support from the ministry in the areas of equipment to boost productivity among others.
