Nigeria has taken another step to strengthen its diplomatic engagements across key global capitals following the presentation of Letters of Credence to newly appointed ambassadors-designate.
The Letters of Credence were presented on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu‑Ojukwu, during an official ceremony.
The presentation formally authorises the envoys to commence diplomatic duties in their respective postings.
Those who received the Letters of Credence include:
Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu — Ambassador-Designate to the United Kingdom
Ambassador Ayodele Oke — Ambassador-Designate to France
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim — Permanent Representative-Designate to the United Nations, New York
Speaking during the presentation, Odumegwu-Ojukwu emphasised the importance of the assignments, noting that the ambassadors-designate would play critical roles in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.
She said the letters serve as formal instruments empowering the envoys to represent Nigeria’s interests, engage host governments, and promote cooperation in areas including trade, security, investment, and cultural exchange.
The appointment of the ambassadors comes at a time Nigeria is intensifying diplomatic efforts to expand economic partnerships, improve global cooperation, and enhance its international presence.
With the formal presentation completed, the ambassadors-designate are expected to proceed to their respective missions and begin diplomatic engagements on behalf of Nigeria.
