Popular comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has issued a blunt and emotional critique of Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, warning that the country is fast slipping into a state of lawlessness while its leaders remain disturbingly quiet.
In a candid post that has since triggered widespread reactions online, AY lamented the rising tide of violence across the nation. “Nigeria is turning into a crime scene,” he wrote, capturing the frustration shared by millions of citizens.
He pointed to a disturbing pattern of attacks that have become all too familiar: bandits invading churches to kill and abduct worshippers, children being kidnapped from schools, and even top military officers falling victim to assassins.
AY highlighted the killing of a Brigadier General as another grim reminder that no one—civilian or military—is immune. “Every day brings fresh chaos yet the government remains silent,” he added, questioning the resolve of those elected to provide safety and leadership.
With the tone of someone both heartbroken and exasperated, he pressed further: “How did we get here? And must outsiders come to fix what our leaders refuse to confront?”
His message ends with a solemn appeal that echoes across the country: “Which way Nigeria? We need safety, accountability and real action, not silence.”
