NNPC announces Seplat’s scheduled maintenance, warns of temporary gas supply drop

The NNPC Ltd has announced that Seplat Energy Plc, its joint venture partner and a major gas supplier, will carry out routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026.

The disclosure was contained in a press statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Andy Odeh, in Abuja.

According to the statement, the scheduled maintenance will affect gas supply into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network.

The company explained that the exercise forms part of standard industry safety and asset integrity procedures aimed at ensuring the continuous reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of key gas infrastructure.

The statement noted that regular maintenance remains critical to sustaining optimal system performance, strengthening operational resilience, and reducing the risk of unplanned outages.

NNPC further disclosed that during the four-day maintenance period, there would be a temporary reduction in gas supply into the NGIC network. As a result, some power generation companies that depend on the supply may experience limited gas availability, which could slightly affect electricity generation within the period.

“NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy are working closely to ensure that the maintenance is executed safely and completed as scheduled,” the statement said.

To minimise the impact on the energy sector, the national oil company added that NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is already engaging alternative gas suppliers to address expected shortfalls and maintain network stability.

The company assured stakeholders that gas supply would be fully restored once the maintenance exercise is completed.

“Upon completion of the maintenance exercise, full gas supply into the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly, enabling affected power generation companies to return to normal operations,” the statement added.

NNPC also pledged to keep the public and relevant stakeholders informed, saying further updates would be provided as necessary.
