Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited held the 2026 Energy Business Development Forum on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline, where it unveiled business prospects and opportunities on the project, before investors and energy operators in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday.
The event, held at the Government House, Minna, was themed “Accelerating Domestic Gas Utilisation and Driving the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Revolution along the AKK Corridor” and drew participation from state governments, community leaders, private investors, and energy operators.
Speaking at the forum, NNPC Limited’s Executive Vice President, Gas, Power and New Energy, Olalekan Ogunleye, said the AKK Gas Pipeline has reached Abuja and is scheduled for commissioning in phases later in the year.
He added that pipeline laying has also been completed in the Kano segment of the project, while the Niger State section is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
In his remarks, Governor Mohammed Bago declared that the State Government has already designated an Industrial Development Park within the 1,000-square-kilometre stretch of the AKK corridor in Niger State, citing the state’s combination of gas, hydro and solar power as the basis for attracting agro-allied, petrochemical and fertiliser investments.
The AKK Gas Pipeline is a 40-inch by 614 km linear pipeline system running from Ajaokuta in Kogi State to Kano, with associated intermediate and terminal gas facilities and other related equipment to transport natural gas to off-takers.
