The rate of insecurity in our country, Nigeria, is very high and alarming. An immediate call to action is needed to address this challenge in the country.
In view of this, Project 20 Million, in conjunction with the Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (COCSON) is inviting the general public to a National Security Summit with the theme: “Insecurity in Nigeria, an Emerging Dangerous Trend on the Horizon; a way out”.
This summit will take place from 7th – 8th July, 2021 at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja.
Time is 11am daily.
The speakers and the panelists are professionals and stakeholders in the security sector of Nigeria. They are men of poise, high intellect and have made remarkable impacts in the country and the world at large.
Project 20 Million is a duly registered non-governmental organization operating in Nigeria with the aim of mobilizing 20 million and more Nigerians for the purpose of good governance and accountable leadership in our nation. Project 20 million partners with many other Civil Society Organizations under the umbrella body of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria (COCSON) to achieve this goal.
This summit will witness a 2 day session.
The 1st day will be a virtual session with participation, contribution and presentations by various youth leaders, youth groups, interest groups from the villages and towns of Nigeria, who are the primary witnesses of security challenges in Nigeria. As such, no one can relate these events of insecurity in the country better than this group of people. The traditional leaders, stakeholders and traditional institutions, will also be present during this session. These groups have experienced first hand of these insecurity situations in the nation.
The second day will be a physical session at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre with 2 different sesssions and different panelists.
The 1st panel will parade all the security managers in Nigeria, ie, the National Security Adviser; General Babagana Monguno (Rtd), the Minister of Defence; Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (Rtd), the Chief of Army Staff; Major General Farouk Yahaya, the Chief of Defence Staff; General Lucky E. O. Irabor, the Chief of Air Staff; Air Marshall Ishiaka Oladayo Amao, the Chief of Naval Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, the Commandant General Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp; Comander Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Inspector General of Police; Mr. Usman Alkali Baba, the Director General Nigerian Intelligence Authority; Mr. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, and the Director General Department of State Services; Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi, where they will be discussing the theme “Insecurity in Nigeria, an Emerging Dangerous Trend on the Horizon; Successes and Challenges”.
The 2nd session will witness the presence of the panel of media stakeholders in Nigeria, in the likes of, the Minister of Information and Culture; Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the Director General National Broadcasting Commission; Mr. Balarabe Ilelah, the Director General National Orientation Agency; Dr. Garba Abari, the National President Nigerian Union of Journalists; Comrade Chris Isiguzo, the Chairman DAAR Communication Group; Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman/CEO Channels TV; John Momoh, the Chairman Silverbird Group; Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Executive Director of Media Trust Limited; Naziru Mikailu Abubakar, the CEO and MD TVC Communications; Andrew Hanlon, and the CEO Hot FM; Mr. Oscar Chavula, where they will be discussing the role of media in Nigeria for a well secure and peaceful nation.
This summit tends to galvanize the best brains in Nigeria for the purpose of attaining sustainable security in the country and curbing the activities that pose a threat to our security.
We are certain that the outcome of this summit will be a reference document for a peaceful Nigeria both now and in the future.
