Obi Visits Aba, Meets ADC Stakeholders, Praises Otti’s Development Efforts

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Saturday, March 28, travelled to Aba, Abia State, where he met with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and commended ongoing development efforts in the commercial city.

Obi disclosed this in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that the visit was at the invitation of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents the area.

“Yesterday, Saturday 28th March, I travelled to Aba, Abia State to honour the invitation of the representative of the people Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and to meet stakeholders of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC),” Obi stated.

The former Anambra State governor expressed appreciation to the senator and his team for what he described as a warm reception, while also acknowledging the efforts of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, in transforming the city.

“I thank Senator Abaribe and his team for the warm reception and I thank Governor Alex Otti for the good work he has done in Enyimba City,” he added.

During his visit, Obi also granted a one-hour interview to Magic FM, which he described as his first radio and television engagement for the year.

“I had a one-hour interview with Magic fm which is my first interview on the radio and TV this year. I thank the stakeholders of ADC for their warm welcome and the good interaction we had,” he said.

Highlighting Aba’s economic potential, Obi reiterated his long-standing position on transitioning Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a production-based one. He described Aba as one of the key cities capable of driving such transformation, particularly in garment and shoe manufacturing.

“When I speak about moving the country from consumption to production Aba remains one of the cities that will contribute immensely to that as it remains a home for garment and shoe production,” Obi noted.

He further pointed to examples from Asian countries, stressing that Nigeria could replicate similar economic successes if the sector receives proper management and support.

“Both products, garments and shoe remains top and earn as much as we earn from oil for Bangladesh and Vietnam respectively and can do so for Nigeria if well managed and supported,” he added.

The former presidential candidate emphasized that Nigeria’s major challenge remains leadership, calling for competent governance driven by capacity, compassion, and commitment.

“Our challenge remains Competent leadership with capacity, compassion, and commitment to the development of our country as it is in other comparable nations,” Obi stated.

He concluded his message with his signature optimism about the country’s future, declaring: “A New Nigeria Is POssible.”
