Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday joined the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, and other distinguished guests, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to celebrate the monarch’s fifth coronation anniversary.
The event, held at the Aghofen Palace in Warri, drew traditional rulers, government officials and other dignitaries who gathered to honour the reign of the Itsekiri monarch.
Speaking during the celebration, Governor Oborevwori described Ogiame Atuwatse III as a cerebral monarch, a bridge-builder and a man committed to peace, applauding his efforts in fostering unity and promoting development across Warri Kingdom, Uvwie and the wider Delta State.
The governor also acknowledged the monarch’s support for his administration, particularly his participation in the inspection of the completed Ode-Itsekiri Road project.
Oborevwori called on the various ethnic nationalities in Warri and neighbouring communities to continue preserving the peaceful coexistence that has defined the area for generations.
He urged residents to reject divisive rhetoric capable of undermining harmony and instead embrace dialogue and unity for sustainable development.
Congratulating the monarch on the milestone, the governor prayed for a long, peaceful and impactful reign.
He said: “I congratulate Ogiame Atuwatse III on his fifth coronation anniversary and pray for a long, peaceful and impactful reign marked by wisdom, strength and continued progress.”
Also celebrating the royal milestone, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu shared his goodwill message on his official X handle after attending the ceremony.
