#OccupyAsoRock: Sowore Faults Tinubu’s Response to Rising Insecurity

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s handling of the country’s security challenges, alleging that government interventions have failed to curb the growing wave of violence and abductions across Nigeria.

In a post shared on his X account, Sowore expressed frustration over the persistent insecurity in several parts of the country despite recent measures announced by the Federal Government.

According to him, attacks and kidnappings have continued unabated even after the President unveiled new security initiatives in response to major incidents.

“Your LAZY AND CLUELESS president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialabat, have no effective solution to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity,” Sowore wrote.

Referring to the recent killings in Plateau State, the activist noted that the President had promised to deploy advanced surveillance technology to strengthen security operations.

“After the killings in Plateau State, he promised to deploy 5,000 AI-enabled surveillance cameras, yet the violence continues,” he said.

Sowore also cited the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, arguing that government assurances have not translated into tangible improvements in security.

“Following the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State, he announced plans to deploy 1,000 forest guards, yet kidnappings persist,” he added.

The activist concluded his post with the hashtags “#OccupyAsoRock” and “#TinubuMustGoNOW,” signalling his dissatisfaction with the administration’s response to the security situation.

Sowore’s remarks come amid growing public concern over recurring incidents of killings, kidnappings and banditry in different parts of the country, with many Nigerians calling for more decisive measures to address the crisis.
