The leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State on Thursday affirmed their support for Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the party’s primary in April.
The endorsement of Aiyedatiwa’s bid for the party ticket was announced during a meeting of the party leaders held in Akure.
The Chairman of APC in Akure South Local Government, Chief Fesobi Akinmolayan, at the meeting said Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style was commendable since assuming office.
Akinmolayan praised the governor for continuing the projects initiated by the late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and in the process, demonstrating a commitment to continuity and progress that is truly admirable.
Akinmolayan said the interest of Akure-speaking communities could only be protected and promoted by the continuity of Aiyedatiwa in office.
“We wholeheartedly support and endorse Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the upcoming gubernatorial election as our candidate and we are confident in his ability to continue leading Ondo State towards greater prosperity,” he said.
Also speaking, one of the party leaders, Prof. Olu Aderounmi, expressed confidence in the ability of Aiyedatiwa to lead the state, urging the people of Akure to support his aspiration.
“Everything expressed here today in Akure South will also resonate across all local governments because we are one party.
“One key factor motivating our support for Aiyedatiwa is his attentiveness. He has listening ears. When we raised concerns about the condition of Oda and Ijoka roads, he promptly took action.
”Personally, I have known Aiyedatiwa since 1984 when he was my student, and I wholeheartedly endorse his aspiration,” he said.
Also speaking, Representative of the Youth, Mr Femi Fadairo, said he had observed Aiyedatiwa’s dedication and commitment to the progress of the state.
“His commitment to youth empowerment, education, and job creation is evident in his policies and actions.
“Under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, we have seen tangible improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and opportunities for young people.
“His inclusive governance approach ensures that the voices of youth are heard and considered in decision-making process.
“We the youths are confident that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s visionary leadership will continue to propel Ondo State forward, we support his candidacy for another term in office,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the governor, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tayo Oluwatuyi, commended the party leaders for assembling dedicated party members amidst various distractions.
“We are deeply grateful for the endorsement and unwavering support of the Akure South APC, as conveyed by Chairman Fesobi Akinmolayan.
“It is an honour to receive such affirmation from our party members and leaders.
