Ondo Clears Pension Arrears: Aiyedatiwa Disburses ₦2.4bn to 733 Retirees

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved and begun the disbursement of ₦2.4 billion in gratuities to 733 retirees from 2018 and 2019 in Ondo State, as part of efforts to clear longstanding pension arrears and restore dignity to retirees.

At the flag-off ceremony in Akure, the governor described the payments as a moral obligation, not a political move.

He reaffirmed his commitment to workers’ welfar and acknowledged the hardship many pensioners faced due to delays and assured that his administration is working to clear all outstanding arrears as quickly as possible.

Officials disclosed that the beneficiaries include retirees from the civil service, schools, and parastatals.

The government also urged unverified retirees to complete their documentation. Pensioners expressed gratitude, praising the governor for prioritising their welfare.
