Afrobeats star Davido has put music work on hold as he takes a leading role in Governor Ademola Adeleke’s youth campaign ahead of the Osun governorship election.

The singer announced the move in Ede, Osun State, where he was unveiled as chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Team. The group has been set up to connect with young voters and help build support for Adeleke’s bid for another term in office.

Davido told supporters he was ready to focus on the campaign for the next two months. “I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle.”

He said his decision was not only based on family ties, but also on his belief that the governor still has work to do in the state.

Davido also asked members of the campaign team to take the message directly to communities and speak to voters about the government’s work.

Governor Adeleke later shared his reaction on X, welcoming the singer into the campaign structure and backing his new role.

In his post, the governor said Davido brings the influence needed to connect with young people across the state as the election draws closer.
